Frozen Sugared Cranberries

by Tuesday, January 12, 2016
These little sugared cranberries are pretty versatile eye candy. I usually use frozen sugared cranberries as a cocktail or champagne glass garnish – put a few on a skewer and pop them in your drink. Voila –  pop of color! It adds a bit of sweetness and it helps keep your drink a little bit cold without having to deal with melting ice.

You’ll need to plan ahead, but they’re easy to make. Basically, you soak the cranberries in simple sugar for a while to sweeten them up, roll them in sugar and allow them to harden on a cooking sheet, before popping them in the freezer.

You’ll likely make more that you need for one use, but you can always pop them back in the freezer. Here are a few crafty ways to use the leftover frozen sugared cranberries.

Style Me Pretty featured this simple, but gorgeous cake from Trumpet Vine Catering. What a beautiful way to decorate and add some sparkle to a basic cake. In a pinch, you could also pick up a plain white store-bought cake, sprinkle on the sugared cranberries and turn it into something really eye catching.

These cranberry brie bites from Yummy Mummy Kitchen are also on my list to try. Brie + anything is a win, in my opinion.

And, I’m a little a late to the Moscow Mule party, but Pretty Plain Jane has a Cranberry Moscow Mule that looks lovely and would make for a fun DIY holiday party drink.
