For some reason, I never thought of a Moscow Mule as a summer drink. But that was just me being silly, I guess. Moscow Mules are cold, crisp and refreshing. And throw in a little summer mint from your (our your neighbor’s) garden and you’ve got yourself a perfect summertime cocktail.
Another reason I probably didn’t immediately think of a making a Moscos Mule, is the ginger flavor. I’m not typically a ginger fan but its not at all overpowering and adds to the refreshing feel of the drink. Using fresh ginger would probably make the flavor more pronounced but I like the bubbles from ginger beer – it gives it a more effervescent feel and provides a more mellow ginger flavor. (Does everyone know that ginger beer isn’t really beer? Just checking.)
So next time you need a break from sipping on your summertime Rose, try mixing up a batch of Minty Moscow Mules. It couldn’t be easier and you won’t be disappointed!
Plus it’s an excuse to pull out those copper mugs. The more you use them, the less likely they are to tarnish. 😉
Cheers!
